Introduction & If You Could Live Anywhere
Apr. 22nd, 2004 08:27 pmWell then! It would seem that the TARDIS has landed me in a bit of a paradox since I've already encountered one of my former selves in this particular time and space. Completely against the Rules, of course – not that it's ever stopped me – or rather, us -- from transgressing our own timeline when the need arises. Those stuffed collars in the Capitol would have you believe I do it willy nilly. What the High Council seems to forget to mention when pointing fingers is that said transgressions are usually on their behalf – or their instigation. I can only wonder what they're up to now. A perfidious species, Time Lords.
As to Who I am, I'm afraid I've been called a great many things – some of them not very flattering. In spite of what you might have heard, I am not an "Intergalactic Busybody." The very idea! I am, quite simply, a traveler. An adventurer, if you will, who's only agenda is to see the universe and, if the occasion arises, do a bit of good here and there. At the moment I share my travels with Miss Evelyn Smythe, a very respectable, personable (if headstrong) woman I met during one of my visits to Earth. I think you'd like Evelyn. Now I wonder where she's got off to?
As to the question at hand - if I could live anywhere, where would it be and why? I could throw out the names of any number of beautiful, restful planets and be perfectly content living on any one of them for a time. But not for very long, I'm afraid. The urge to travel is just too strong. It's in the blood, you see. The wanderlust. No, I'm afraid that I wouldn't be happy living in any one place. Unless, of course, that place happened to be my ship, the TARDIS. All I ask is stout Type 40 and a star to steer her by! (My apologies to John Masefield.)
Hmm? What's that you say? Oh, yes! Sorry. Got a bit ahead of myself, didn't I? I would pleased if you would simply call me The Doctor.
